This Ford Motorcraft Automotive Starting Systems manual is a reproduction of the original out of print manual. It describes the electric starting system presently used on passenger cars and light trucks. Heavy duty systems such as used on heavy trucks and construction equipment are not covered.
Although the discussion primarily concerns Ford Motor company products, the fundamentals are common to all domestic light-duty systems. Where there are substantial differences in industry practices, those diffences are discussed.
It is intended primarily for the use of service technicians who attend the Ford Parts and Service Division Field Service Training Clinic on Automotive Starting Systems.
