The Oliver 88 Series tractors, the first of the New Fleet to be put into production, were first produced in April 1947. The 77 Series
tractors followed in June 1948 and the 06 Series tractors in February 1949. All the New Fleet tractors are of the same basic design with many of the parts interchangeable. Once the mechanic understands the repair procedures of one series tractor,
he will have no trouble mastering the other series due to the simplicity and similarity in design. Three types of engines are available for each of the New Fleet. These are a KD (low compression engine), an HC (high compression engine), and a Diesel (compression ignition engine). For KD engine operation at altitudes above 5000 feet a modified engine is available.
Power from the engine is transmitted to the transmission through a single plate, dry disc type Borg and Beck clutch. The underdrive type transmission is so designed to give six forward and two reverse speeds from one shifter lever. Where special speed combinations are required the transmission may be modified. A combination is available to provide four forward and four reverse speeds for certain operations. All tractors are equipped with external contracting differential brakes. These brakes operate on the bull pinions making it possible to brake the rear wheels individually or together. The belt pulley and power lift are driven by the transmission input shaft. Power take-off and Hydra-Lectric units are driven by a drive shaft which is splined to the flywheel and can be operated independently of the tractor mot ion.

TRACTOR SERIAL NUMBERS: Your tractor serial number is stamped on a name plate which is fastened on the front right-hand side of the rear main frame. Row Crop 66 tractors are in the 420,000 block, Standard 06 tractors in the 470,000 block and the Industrial 66 tractors in the 462,000 block. Row Crop 77 tractors are in the 320,000 block, Standard 77 tractors in the 209,000 block and the Industrial 77 tractors in the 403,000 block. Row Crop 88 tractors are numbered in the 120,000 block, Standard 88 tractors in the 820,000 block and the Industrial 86 tractors in the 920,000 block.
