About the repair manuals we carry.

Buying a repair manual for your motorcycle is quite different than buying other types of books. Rarely can you find reviews or advice on what's available. How many parties have you been to where you've heard, "Hey, are you reading that new GSXR1100 manual? You'll love the ending." With so little information to influence your decision, buying a manual can be a confusing task. To assist and educate you in your purchasing decision we've assembled some notes on the three primary publications available: Primedia (Clymer), Haynes and Original Equipment Manufacturer. (OEM or factory.)

Primedia (Clymer Manuals)

Clymer repair manuals provide step-by-step procedures based upon the complete disassembly of the machine. This hands-on experience combined with extensive research results in a manual that is both detailed and user-friendly. Hundreds of original photos and illustrations guide the reader through every job, making it easy to reduce repair costs.

Whether it is routine maintenance, such as tune-ups and brake service, or more extensive repairs involving engine and transmission disassembly. Clymer manuals provide reliable information required to perform the job. Accurate, clear and concise text, combined with detailed illustrations and photography, make it possible for the novice power sports enthusiast to safely and enjoyably service their vehicle. While at the same time, the indepth coverage provides indispensible information for those tackling more complicated procedures.

Haynes Manuals

Haynes is the second largest aftermarket repair manual company. Haynes is an English company which produces a great number of manuals for bikes and cars. Every Haynes motorcycle and automotive manual is based on a complete teardown and rebuild, and contains hundreds of photos with step-by-step instructions, comprehensive routine maintenance and troubleshooting information, and detailed wiring diagrams. Many Haynes motorcycle titles are now available in a SUPERBIKE format. SUPERBIKE manuals offer numerous extra features, including color sections for wiring diagrams, performance data, model history, tools and workshop tips. Most SUPERBIKE manuals also feature hard covers.

OEM / Factory Books

An original factory manual is your final option when it comes to a book. The strength of the factory manual is that it is produced by the same people who built your bike, and presumably know it best. However, the factory manuals assume a degree of mechanical aptitude. Some procedures which the average shade-tree mechanic might find challenging may not be covered in the same linear, detailed fashion as a Clymer or Haynes publication. If you're not confident in your mechanical ability, a Clymer or Haynes manual is a better choice. Like the Clymer and Haynes books, a factory manual covers complete teardown and re-assembly procedures. If an aftermarket book is not available a factory book may be your only option.

Whichever book you choose don't underestimate the importance of a repair manual. You'll need it to properly service your bike and to help you enjoy the experience of owning a bike. Ride safe, we want to see you around the next corner.
